The HP30 by Fenix is the best headlamp you are going to be able to get your hands on. It is very feature rich and very cost effective. I love the lockout feature and the straps. The plastic that would have touched your head are nicely covered by the straps and make it very comfortable to wear. The weight is not even noticeable after long wear periods. The USB charging feature of the battery box is wonderful and i use it often to charge my small Quantum D2 batteries on the go. So I'l never run out of juice. Even used it to charge my Malstrom MMR-X Regen. Even after charging my Regen fully I had more than half my battery capacity left with 3400 mah batteries installed. I love the diffuser and the wonderful flood of light it helps produce and is comfortable on the eyes for up close work. Not to mention the battery life indicator and the sub $100 cost is amazing. If Fenix could produce a carrying case that was kind of molded to hold the awkward shape of the light and straps when not in use for better protection when in my backpack I would give it 10 stars! Customer service was wonderful. They even extended a promotion that allowed me to receive free stuff even though the deal had expired by a few hours and helped me replace a broken GRIMloc that had broken shortly after my purchase. These guys are TOP NOTCH and you shouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on your order as the shipping is fast and the customer service is amazing. I'll be placing another order very soon.

First I want to just declare Fenix Outfitters has some of the best customer service out there. Judy at the service department is 2nd to none. The first lamp I bought off ebay (like an idiot) malfunctioned out of the box. No complaints, it happens. Not only did Fenix accept the defect no questions asked, they paid for all the shipping and gave me a new lamp in the color I found out they had after the purchase per request. 5+ Stars for customer service.
On to the lamp itself.
Pros: I shopped for a looong time before buying this lamp. I wanted a compact, ultra bright, rechargeable headlamp for night adventures tracking deer, fishing, etc (the fact that I can spotlight with this monster is impressive). The convenience within the ability to recharge the batteries in the remote via mini USB is super handy cuz I can do it in the truck while on the move. There is no comparison of a regulated to unregulated battery light system of any kind, coupled with the low battery indicator makes this light’s functionality top notch. I also like the fact I can throw CR123s in it as a backup. For the power vs. battery life there is no competitor. The compact size of the torch itself coupled with the ability to relocate the battery pack to a belt or pack with the long extension cord makes it lighter than most units on the market while having 10x the brightness. This thing is a beast of a light, brighter than anything I have ever experienced that fits on my head. The diffuser also makes a good addition so that you are not blasting people in the face with 500 lumens. Haven’t taken it to the field much yet but it seems to be durable enough and well built.
Cons: I wish they made a red diffuser for the lamp as I am in the military and it is a necessity for missions. A two year warranty isn’t bad but for the price I wish it was lifetime. Be prepared to drop at least $120 with batteries and more for an external charger.
Good work Fenix on a unbeatable light at a decent price. Hope this review helps.

This light is all that it is advertised to be. It has a bright spot mode and when you flip down the diffuser the light spreads out to cover a larger area.
